Portrait in brief:
Bamberg, sometimes described as the "Franconian Rome", is more than 1000 years old and built on seven hills. It was formerly one of the most prominent localities in the holy Roman Empire of the German nation. Today it has around 70,000 inhabitants and is the centre of Upper Franconia. Virtually undamaged during the Second World War, the old town was designated a UNESCO world cultural heritage site in 1993 and attracts tourists from far and wide.

Further tips and hints for our programme:

The entire 1st district, the «imperial», is a UNESCO world cultural heritage site.
